Description
‘Picnic’ is a digital mural painting, revolving around the established theme in art history and diving into the floating pictorial language of the dichotomy of digital and manual sensibilities. It was made in collaboration of two artists, Tamar Giorgadze and Teo Burki, sharing the file back and forth, adding to the multiple layers of the ‘software’ manipulated visual materials, hovering over the shared domain of the virtual and real. Ephemeral ‘dreamlike’ forms are an exploration into the various applications of mark-making through the fusion of spontaneous, abstract, and figurative modes, enabling the hybrid investigation of the gestures derived from the random pop-up imagery and hand-drawn representations, creating a new narrative. Distorted linear perspective of the grid blurs the lines of the composition and creates a simulacrum of the ‘in-between’ space, where a picnic is held.
