The painting "Glance - Eternity of the Soul" depicts a girl with butterfly wings. A butterfly that overcomes the laws of physics, namely gravity, and soars off the ground. Here the butterfly is considered a symbol of the soul, its eternity, freedom, and rebirth. She is in search of beauty, light, love, and eternal freedom. The painting conveys subtle warm tones along with the mystical image of a butterfly girl. The butterfly girl, in addition to freedom, also symbolizes the beauty existing in the human soul" (Rashad Mehdijev)

Rashad Mehdiyev was born in 1968 in the family of artists. After graduation, he continued his education at the College of Art. The Soviet period was hard for Rashad and for artists in general, continuous persecutions in art, “soviet realism” didn’t give the chance to reveal. After his studies at the College of Art, he moved to Moscow, but the difference on point of views prevented him on further study there. Upon his return to Azerbaijan, he entered the University of Art, but it coincides with the difficult period of the young republic – the Soviet army entered the country and killed hundreds of civils. In 1991 he decided to continue his studies at the Istanbul University of Fine Arts. From that period, he started the scientific researches, studies of astronomy and research on Persian and Azerbaijanian Culture. On his account more than 20 solo exhibitions all around the world and participation on several international symposiums and festivals.
