Description
The series of photographs titled, Beloved, was created after the author's many years of following newspaper articles and police reports on murders in partner relationships. The photographs show injuries to the bodies and organs that led to the deaths of victims of domestic violence. Parts of the body that once aroused love and erotic feelings, such as breasts, hair, face and lips, are dead, cold, "damaged" in the photographs, while the universal symbol of love – a heart pierced with an arrow – takes on a completely different meaning. The photographs are placed in acrylic glass frames, thus reminding us of official photographs taken after the autopsy of the victims.
